Seasons of Change
With Carol Mirones, Founder and CEO of Seasons Psychotherapy Associates
Most businesses do not start with a pitch deck.
Seasons Psychotherapy Associates started with something more personal: a major life reset.
Carol Mirones, LCSW-QS, LMFT-QS, was 40, newly divorced, and raising four kids when she decided to go back to school and pursue a Master of Social Work at Florida Atlantic University. She describes her first career as something completely different: she earned an interior design degree, then spent 15 years as a stay-at-home mom.
After graduate school and clinical training, she became fully licensed in June 2020. With the pandemic reshaping care and her employer’s model under pressure, Carol made a bet that went against the trend. While many practices were moving fully virtual, she and her husband, Daniel, chose to open an in-person office in Davie, Florida, in October 2020.
It worked, and it grew fast.
Within the first year, they expanded their Davie space. From there, Seasons added Fort Lauderdale in 2022, Tampa in 2023, and Coral Springs as their largest location. Today, Carol says the practice has four offices and close to 50 employees.
A big part of the strategy is accessibility. From the beginning, Carol decided Seasons would accept Medicaid and work to become in-network with as many insurance plans as possible. It adds complexity, but she believes it also makes the business more stable in uncertain times.
As the business scaled, Carol and Daniel divided responsibilities based on strengths. Daniel leads operations, technology, and the back-end systems. Carol focuses on clinical leadership, staying current in a changing industry, and building relationships in the community.
What does she want listeners to take from her story?
Be real. Be genuine. And when things get hard, keep moving anyway.
