Keith Costello Named to Housing Authority of the City of Fort Lauderdale, Board of Commissioners

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., April 18, 2022 – Locality Bank’s Co-Founder, President, and CEO Keith Costello was recently appointed by Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis to serve on the Board of Commissioners for the Housing Authority of the City of Fort Lauderdale.

As a member of the five-person Board of Commissioners, Costello will serve a four-year term and will support the Authority’s mission in assisting low-income families with safe, decent and affordable housing opportunities as they strive to achieve self-sufficiency and improve their lives.

“Housing fulfills one of our most basic necessities and affordable options should be available to those in our community who are working hard to provide for their families,” said Keith Costello. “As a board member, I look forward to working with the Commission to make a significant impact in our community.”

Serving the community for the past 80 years, the Housing Authority currently manages approximately 29 public housing units, 170 affordable housing units, 1,250 tax credit units, and administers over 3,427 housing choice vouchers.

“The work of the Authority goes beyond creating affordable housing, it offers many other services to help our neighbors achieve self-sufficiency by providing opportunities for employment, education, homeownership, counseling, and other social assistance,” said Costello.

Keith Costello is the Co-founder, President, and CEO of Locality Bank, a digital first de novo bank that open on January 12, 2022. Previously, he served as the President & CEO of First GREEN Bank, a community bank headquartered in Orlando, Florida from 2016 until its sale in 2018. He was President, CEO, and an organizing director of Broward Bank of Commerce, chartered in Florida in 2009. He also had senior roles at Bank of Florida, City National Bank, and Nations Bank throughout his 30-year banking career in South Florida.

Keith holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tampa and an MBA from the University of Miami. He has his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Institute. Keith has been involved in several local charities and organizations and served on Fort Lauderdale’s Economic Development Advisory Board, the Broward County Continuum of Care Board for the Homeless, and as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce in 2017. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Broward Workshop and is currently a member of Vistage and the Alexis de Tocqueville Society of United Way. He lives in Ft. Lauderdale with his fiancé Denice Hayes, is a US Army Veteran, and father of four.
